During the summer I love to go on picnics. You can’t go wrong by finding the perfect spot in the shade, packing snacks, and enjoying the nature around you. Today, my friend and I went to Sarah P. Duke Gardens near Duke University to have a picnic.
First, decide on the place of your picnic. This could be anywhere: a park, a meadow, beside a lake, or even your backyard! It doesn’t matter where you go as long as you’re outdoors. Next, find a large blanket to spread beneath a tree. Just remember that this blanket will get dirty, so don’t bring your mom’s favorite. Don’t forget to bring snacks and water (this one is a necessity on hot day)
As for entertainment, pack some books, magazines, and other activities! We brought along our coloring books and markers, and it was so peaceful with a slight breeze. However, we regretted leaving a deck of cards at home, so you might want to add this to your list if you go on your own picnic.
Once you’ve soaked in the sun and ate your snacks, take a walk around the area. The highlight of our day was strolling through the gardens without knowing what we would find next.
Duke Gardens’ wide array of nature truly impressed us, and we had a great day!
